How Roomio measures floor areas

Two separate things decide how measurements appear on your floor plan: the standard we measure to, and the units you choose to display.

The measurement standard follows the property address

Our drafting team applies the measurement standard that matches where the property is.

• United States properties: ANSI Z765
• Properties in England: RICS Code of Measuring Practice

You do not need to select this. It is applied based on the address on the order.

This matters because different markets count spaces differently, and a plan measured to the wrong standard can misstate a property's area in a way that causes problems at listing.

You choose how measurements are displayed

Separately from the standard, you can choose how the numbers appear on the plan:

• Metric
• Imperial
• Both

Choosing both puts each measurement in metric and imperial together, which is useful if you deal with buyers across different markets.

What is included

Every floor plan includes total area calculations. If the exterior of the property was scanned, a site plan is included as well.

The area does not look right

If a measurement or total area on your delivered plan looks wrong, submit an amendment request on the order page and describe what you are seeing. Our design team will check it. Amendments are complimentary.
